Feature and Follow: September 13th

Q:  What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

The Halo series by Alexandra Adornetto!  It's just . . . not good, I think.  The covers are lovely, but I just can't get into the first book let alone any more of the series.

((note on comments: I accidentally reposted a copy of last week's ff at first, that's where the Artemis Fowl comments are coming from))

  1. Haven't read the Artemis Fowl series but I'm sorry you didn't like the book as much as some of the others in the series. I guess that's inevitable especially if it's already up to book 8.

    1. LOL, thanks for alerting me that I didn't post what I thought I posted. I did finish book 8, and it was back to being excellent.

  2. I have only ever read one Artemis Fowl book. Can't say it was a series I could get into.

    1. LOL, thanks for alerting me that I didn't post what I thought I posted. The Artemis Fowl books are definitely an acquired taste, like much middle grade!

  3. I love the cover of Halo! It's beautiful, but with a lot of mixed reviews for it I decided not to give it a try! & I'm glad I didn't. ;)

    Have a great weekend!

I had no answer to this week's question, because I read what I am interested in regardless of "hype".
Nice meeting you today...have a safe weekend!

  5. I haven't read the Halo series, yet, but I do plan on giving the first book a try. I don't have super high expectations, though.

But you are right, the covers are soooo pretty!

  6. I hadn't heard of this series, and I'll be honest, I haven't read a single (seriously, not one) angel book. What angel books would you recommend? I've been a bit wary of the whole genre, but I'd like to try out a book or two.

    1. Angelfall by Susan Ee was quite good, even if I did have problems with the premise. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand was very good, too.

    2. Thanks for the suggestions! I'll have to see if I can pick these up from the library.

  7. You know, I've heard other people who didn't think this book was worth the hype either.

I would love to see a link to your review, though... if you did one, or know more of why it wasn't for you... as a potential reader, details are helpful!
